What happened to the Harrell House Bug Museum?

The Harrell House lost its space unexpectedly with very short notice in December of 2021. The support we received from the community at that time inspired us to become a nonprofit organization to continue on as The Santa Fe Reptile and Bug Museum.

Why did we change our name?

We changed to a non-profit community organization and we felt our name should reflect that. Also, we felt that reptiles should be included in our name because they have always been a part of our Museum!

Why reptiles and bugs?

While it’s true that reptiles and arthropods are not closely related, (they are from completely different phylums), they are both equally misunderstood by mankind.

How are you funded?

We are funded primarily through tax-deductible donations and sponsorships from supporters. We receive additional funding through Museum admissions and merchandise sales in our gift shop..
